15 DATING RULES THAT CHANGED MY LIFE

A discussion about personal relationships in softball, not about any moral positions. This tread is a sincere discussion about the impact on the players, partners, teammates, and the success of the team when teammates date.

Its intent is to dating a discussion or debate that educates players, coaches, and parents about the issues associated with intra-team dating, and how to mitigate any issues should dating choose to date one another.

This is not a discussion about morality. If you want to make comments of that sort, I emphatically request that you start your own thread and keep them off of this one. This is a discussion among adults. Absolutely no names, no team names, or anything that hints of either. Starting this discussion is not meant to be inflammatory.

Dating teammates has an impact. Partners face conflicts between their personal relationship and teammate roles. That conflict infects the entire team and is a distraction.

I think that inner-team fraternization should be discouraged.

I believe players should be asked to refrain from dating and asked to make an agreement not to date one another. No one say anything negative, derogatory or controversial. Everyone be politically correct and you are allowed to reply. That is the world we live in now If the team of "rethinking as an adult", these team are adults and are entitled to make their own decisions. What they choose to do and with whom they choose to do it is their own business. Any personal relationship has the ability to effect a person's play Maybe coaches should make players sign a contract that they won't have any personal relationships during their time on the team.

That would solve everything. Better yet, maybe every coach team have a "no lesbians" clause. That would prevent all the women who are over emotional, unable to control themselves, and unable to separate off the field stuff from on the field from ever slipping through the cracks.

Is this ? You are talking about a group dating young women who are in the prime exploration phases of their lives figuring out who they are and dating they want to do with themselves. In most cases, softball has been all these young women have known. They have grown up since they have been very young on the softball field, day in and day out deeply emotionally involved not only with a sport, but with your teammates. Bonds form, some go further than others, and as the poster stated above there are "trollers" in the mix causing all kinds of drama.

So yes, not only are the players dealing with heat from academics and coaches, there is also heat from the team if you find yourself involved emotionally with another teammate.

Sometimes college softball isn't quite as much fun as you would think. But, the poster above who talked team dating hit the nail on the head.

The year we won the National Championship team chemistry was at a alltime high, there was no manipulating, no cliques, no drama, just softball. The next year, we were a shoe in to win it again because we had our returning pitchers, infield, the whole 9 yards Yes, it's important to teach young men and women, whether athletes or non-athletes, that you never want to dip your pen in the proverbial company ink. But, they are young, and it's going to happen and they are still learning these life lessons at this point as are their non-athletic peers.

I think this topic is great because it has more impact on a team that anyone could truly imagine. It can make or break a season, and surely it can make or break a career for those that choose to make a career out of sport. I think the key as a coach or a leader is to identify healthy and unhealthy relationships on a team You could argue that unheatlhy friendships on a team are just as detrimental to any kind of relationship. Just my 2 cents.

I am not a coach and happily walked away from softball after my senior year into my professional career. I have been a lurker for years and this is my first post. KidCrimson, So you are saying, is no man?

Frank, Awry? The meat of my assumption statement was hyperbole. Team not on team or Russian. Why not legislate Our freedoms and choices are long gone, only choice we have left is paper or japanese hookup and I dating some counties took that away.

When two players date on a team there is a possibility, a strong one, that one or more teammates will have a strong moral objection to two teammates dating. This could dramatically increase the tension on the team, especially at religious based schools. Quote: Originally Posted by Crazy Better yet, maybe every coach should have a "no lesbians" clause. I don't think ruminating about intimate relationships is any more worthwhile than discussing how individual, platonic relationships can affect team chemistry. Ultimately, it comes down to personal choice and responsibility. If players abuse those two things and make their personal relationships more important than the success of the team, then I have no problem with coaches discharging them from the team. I can say personally as a former athlete who has been on the receiving end of a little hate speech that merely being openly lgbt is grounds enough for team hostility.

Granted, I do think men and women react differently to the issue, but fundamentally it was what caused me to leave team sports. I doubt most players who are lgbt really have the time to consider being in https://telegram-web.online/interracial-dating-100-free.php with their teammates. But I don't know much. Just give me some players in my dugout that use their head for something more than a drama queen's tiara and I don't care what they do.

Get grades, play hard and smile so we know you are having fun. How hard do you want to make this? Only forsee one problem with intra-team dating.

What happens if a pair of teammates aren't of the same graduation year. Rising senior is now dating the grad assistant coach. University might have difficulty with that. Ultimately these decisions are up to the coach's discretion, and I'm comfortable with that. If the coach can make a clear argument that any relationship -- friendship, intimate, whatever -- is taking precedence over team success and inhibiting individual participation, then dating can do what they see necessary. It's easy for many to ring the bells of homophobia or team, but I think those people are woefully shortsighted and, more likely than not, understand little about athletic team chemistry.
